Brise-soleils

In architecture, brise-soleils are structural sun-shading elements designed to control the amount of sunlight entering a building. Typically attached to facades, these horizontal or vertical fins block direct sunlight, reducing heat gain while allowing natural light to filter through. Brise-soleils are commonly used in modernist and sustainable architecture to improve energy efficiency, enhance visual comfort, and add a dynamic aesthetic element to the building’s exterior.

“The history of architecture is the history of the struggle for light.” – Le Corbusier
