An Architectural Narrative of Transition and Harmony
The ethos of Hotel Bardo lies in its pursuit of equilibrium, establishing an interactive platform that incites transformation. It delicately balances distinctive design with contemporary lifestyle luxury, tucked away in the heart of the Mayan jungle. The result is an unstructured, authentic experience that far exceeds the commonplace.
The architectural composition consists of 29 loft-style villas, each measuring 60 m2. These individually curated sanctuaries include a bedroom, living room, bathroom, semi-outdoor shower, and their private pool and garden. Communal facilities encompass a central swimming pool, restaurant, bar, recreational area, traditional sweat lodge (temazcal), holistic spa, and reception and administrative spaces.
The architectural aesthetic captures the essence of contemporary Mexican constructions, seamlessly blended with local, ecologically low-impact materials. This intentional design ensures the structures naturally assimilate with the surrounding Mayan jungle, aging gracefully within its verdant landscape.
The interior design and decor resonate deeply with the Buddhist interpretation of ‘bardo,’ signifying a ‘transitional state’ undergone at the point of death. This profound concept is interwoven with traditional Mexican craftwork, culminating in the unique interior design of Hotel Bardo—a tangible embodiment of the ethereal journey of transformation.
