Esteemed within the design community, the A’ Design Award celebrates excellence across more than 100 categories, including the Good Architecture Design Award, the Good Product Design Award, the Good Communication Design Award, the Good Service Design Award, Good Fashion Design Award, among others. This diversity ensures that there is a perfect category for every project, allowing it to be recognized in the most appropriate context.
Submitting your design not only positions it for prestigious accolades but also entitles you to a complimentary preliminary evaluation, offering valuable insights. Entries undergo rigorous assessment by an international jury panel of 211 experts, including design professionals, members of the press, academicians, and others, through a peer-reviewed process characterized by anonymous voting and detailed evaluations.
Since its inception in 2010, the A’ Design Awards & Competition has been at the forefront of celebrating and promoting superior design work. It champions the belief that art, design, and technology are pivotal in crafting a more promising future. - Inspiration: “With the impact of Covid, the fragile connection between us and nature suffered another critical hit. The designer thinks it’s important to adapt the biophilic design into furniture making as well. Inspired by the scenic atmosphere of Eastern tea culture, the designer wanted to bring its tranquility with a furniture piece. The design comes from ancient Chinese architecture, it looks like part of an old garden pavilion, yet the minimal silhouette and metal planter provided it with contemporary characteristics.”

- Inspiration: “Entering the space, grand modern artwork on the ceiling will grasp your attention. In the shape of round water drop, the artwork demonstrates its beauty in vertical and horizontal order, constituting a symbol of contemporary art. With the quiet and warm light and shadow, the movement of each drop of “water” allows people to perceive the rhythm of spatial flow in an unexpected way, and build a very different experience for people to feel the pace of art.”
Hotaru Stool by Misaki Kiyuna

- Inspiration: “Due to the epidemic of the new coronavirus, the amount of time spent at home has increased. I designed a chair with integrated lighting for reading books in order to enrich my time alone. This work was inspired by performers who were spotlighted on stage. Because it was similar to reading a book with a light in a dark room. It turns on and off in the dark in response to people. The blinking appearance looks like a firefly that emits a fantastic and gentle light. I named it Hotaru in Japanese.”

- Inspiration: “Disposable chopsticks are a very common or overflowing item in our daily lives, with 4.5 billion pairs used in Taiwan each year, which is enough to circle the globe 20 times and discarded after only a short time. However, in today’s society, it is impossible to completely stop using chopsticks, so we recycle and reuse them into new materials for the bench.”

- Inspiration: “A multipurpose furniture with highly respect for the environment and sustainability. Therefore bamboo has been selected. Significant craftmandship showing in details. Assembled of 3 parts, without any fixtures. Stackable if space requires this. A aesthetic and sculptural organic form. Tolerate exposes from all angles.”

- Inspiration: “The inspiration behind Petra is Mexico’s whimsical, rugged terrain and the volcanoes within. In Petra we created a symbol of this language full of the force, warmth, and raw beauty that defines what being Mexican means by reflecting nature’s most pristine beauty: that which flows from the Earth’s core, mesmerizing and enticing us with a touch of mystery and adventure.“
Nikao Side Table by Pablo Vidiella
- Designers: Pablo Vidiella

- Inspiration: “When facing Nikao side table, I had nature and living forms as a reference and inspiration. Every curve and surface present in nature has a biological explanation related to a certain function over time, and these evolutionary transformations are my source of inspiration to create Nikao. The creative process consists of trying to emulate this natural process through natural materials and give a function to it, in this case a side table.”

- Inspiration: “Architecture is the integration of ecology and culture, and its shape is like the vortex of the Yellow River. Continue its concept in interior design, excavate the ritual and music culture of Central Plains culture, and deduce ancient music in space through modern means.”
Phantom Chair by Jun Wang
- Designers: Jun Wang, Junying Liu, Guodong Yan, Rongyu Du, Yining Xu and Guofeng Hu
- Winner Category: 2022-2023, Bronze A’ Furniture Design
- Inspiration: “The Phantom Chair features a futuristic design that combines Bauhaus-style minimalism with avant-garde elements. By integrating transparent glass with seating, it creates an exaggerated yet practical product. All of its products are crafted using gradient glass techniques, giving them a dreamy and surreal appearance. It can be used in combination with side tables or as a standalone sofa.”
Bamboo Pavilion Toilet Renovation by Manuel Lap Yan Lam – The Volks Design
- Designers: Manuel Lap Yan Lam and Design Team: Scarlett Li
- Winner Category: 2021 – 2022, Silver A’ Architecture, Building, and Structure Design Award Winner
- Inspiration: “Façade of the Bamboo Pavilion is a re-interpretation of bamboo scaffolding that the Macau industry has used over the years. Hundreds of white aluminum tubes are arranged in a staggered manner surrounding the structure forming a translucent shell that blends in with nature. The bathroom space is turned inside out. Light rays shine through the façade to the interior; daylight and ventilation are enhanced by preserving the skylights and by tailor-made slanted windows that integrated openings to enhance cross ventilation.”
Monopitched Roof Residence by Masato Sekiya
- Designers: Masato Sekiya and Shizuko Kuroda, Structural Designer: Shigeyuki Nakata
- Winner Category: 2021 – 2022, Silver A’ Architecture, Building, and Structure Design Award Winner
- Inspiration: “The main precept of traditional Japanese house design is creating continuity between the outside and interior spaces. Simultaneously, the emphasis is on harmony with nature, creating an all-season, energy-efficient house that blends with the environment. This house was designed for rural Nara Prefecture, Japan. This is a modern take on traditional design, materials, and methods, and the house is arranged around a central traditional Japanese garden, with a link and flow between each room.”

Urban Planning and Urban Design
The Urban Planning and Urban Design award considers your submission based on evaluation criteria such as Innovation, project uniqueness, social impacts, environment friendliness, energy utilization, and project-specific criteria.
Landscape Planning and Garden Design
Landscape Planning and Garden Design Award is an open design competition submission to concept stage, prototype, or finished landscape and garden designs by professional and young landscape designers, architects, architecture studios, urban planners, and the creative industry worldwide.
Interior Design
The Interior Design award considers your submission on multiple dimensions. Your project design is evaluated together with its value creation, visual appeal, space usage, and other aspects.
Furniture, Homeware, and Decor Items Design
The Furniture, Homeware, and Decor Items Design award considers your submission based on evaluation criteria such as Innovation, uniqueness of the project, social impacts, environmental friendliness, energy utilization, and project-specific criteria. The most important criteria are highlighted as Design, Engineering, Ergonomy, and Presentation.
Home Appliances Design
The best home appliance designs are selected according to the product’s form, functional and emotional aspects; the designs are considered for their degree of innovation, aesthetic qualities, functionality, usefulness, ease of realization and realization efficiency, ergonomics, and human interaction.
Street Furniture Design
When submitting to the Street Furniture Design competition, keep in mind that your submission will be evaluated on multiple dimensions; your product is judged together with its durability and aesthetics.
Lighting Products Design
The submissions for the Lighting Products Design Award will be evaluated based on the illumination properties, functionality, ease of use, aesthetic properties, ergonomics, and energy efficiency. Lighting Projects Design will be judged based on the Innovation, artistic content, and aesthetical properties.
BedBuilding Materials, Construction Components, Structures & Systems Design
The A’ Building Materials, Construction Components, Structures & Systems Design Competition is a specialized design competition open to both concept stage and realized building materials, architectural fixtures, exterior and interior surfaces, construction components, coatings, and finishings developed by professional designers and architects, product development companies, R&D centers, research-oriented companies, product manufacturers and other business in this industry worldwide.
Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware, and Cookware Design
Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware, and Cookware Design Award is a freestyle design competition open to all concept stage, prototype, or finished products by professional and young designers, design studios, and design-oriented table manufacturers worldwide.
