Tower

In architecture, a tower is a tall, narrow structure, typically much taller than it is wide, often by a significant margin. Towers can serve multiple purposes. Historically, they were often built as part of fortifications, serving as watchtowers or defensive strongholds. Many ancient religions also built towers as part of their places of worship, such as the bell towers or steeples of Christian churches or the minarets of mosques in Islamic architecture. In modern times, towers often serve as either residential or commercial buildings, like skyscrapers in urban cityscapes. Architectural elements, like observation decks or clock faces, are also commonly incorporated into tower designs. They are a significant element in various architectural styles and can greatly contribute to a city’s skyline and its architectural identity.
