Walter Gropius (1883-1969) was a renowned German architect and a key figure in the development of modern architecture. He is best known as the founder of the Bauhaus School. This groundbreaking institution combined fine arts, crafts, and technology, profoundly impacting architecture, design, and art education in the 20th century. Gropius began his career in architecture by working under Peter Behrens, where he also met other future modernist architects, including Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier.
