Sigurd Lewerentz (1885–1975) was a renowned Swedish architect and furniture designer known for his uncompromising and meticulous approach to architecture. His career spanned several significant periods of architectural history, including classicism, functionalism, and brutalism. Lewerentz was a key contributor to the design of the Stockholm South (Skogskyrkogården) Cemetery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, working alongside fellow architect Gunnar Asplund. His later works, like the St. Peter’s Church in Klippan and St. Mark’s Church in Björkhagen, Stockholm, are remarkable examples of his unique and austere style, exhibiting raw materials and intricate detailing.
