The shores of the Black Sea have long been the canvas for architectural wonders, with designs that echo the region’s deep cultural roots and histories. The town of Sozopol in Bulgaria is no exception, boasting a plethora of structures that imbue a sense of authentic Sozopol tradition. But every so often, amidst these historic references, arises an edifice that boldly contrasts its surroundings, carving its own contemporary niche.

From Tradition to Transcendence: The House in Sozopol

The initial structure that stood on the scenic plot near Sozopol was reminiscent of the town’s classic architectural language: a canvas painted with inclined roofs festooned with tiles, facade planking, and tile cladding, all punctuated with bay windows and arches. These design elements, though nostalgically beautiful, were about to undergo a dramatic metamorphosis.

Driven by a clear vision, the ambition was to steer away from these traditional aesthetics. The challenge? To metamorphose the house into an emblem of contemporary architecture – minimalistic, memorable, and contrasting its erstwhile design.

One can only imagine the intricacies of transforming a house laden with multifarious geometries into something starkly minimalistic. The masterstroke was in the emphasis on the building’s constructive principle. By making astute spatial and organizational enhancements, Simple Architecture was able to declutter the design, allowing the true beauty of minimalism to shine through.

The resultant structure exudes an aura of lightness and elegance, almost ethereal in nature. It is as if the house stands in silent reverence to the breathtaking sea views it overlooks, letting the ever-changing hues of nature play the protagonist. This subtlety is further augmented by the home’s color palette – a serene white, disrupted only by the vibrant artworks that grace its interiors.

The outdoors of the house, much like its interiors, tells a tale of diversity and elegance. The courtyard is peppered with relaxation areas, each with its own distinct allure, promising a multifaceted experience of the outdoors.

Inside, the three-story dwelling is a harmonious blend of function and form. The expansive common area, encompassing the living room, kitchen, and dining room, seamlessly integrates with private spaces like bedrooms and bathrooms. The furnishings, much like sculptures in an art gallery, echo abstractness and novelty, rounding off the home’s identity as a sanctuary of art and design.
