Louis Sullivan was an American architect and is considered a pioneer of modernist architecture. He is best known for his “form follows function” philosophy and his influential designs in the Chicago School of Architecture, particularly for his skyscraper designs. He designed numerous iconic buildings, including the Wainwright Building in St. Louis, Missouri, and the Guaranty Building in Buffalo, New York. He is regarded as one of the most important figures in the history of American architecture.
