Kevin Lynch

Kevin Lynch (1918–1984) was an American urban designer and planning theorist whose 1960 book The Image of the City introduced the concepts of paths, edges, districts, nodes, and landmarks as the cognitive elements through which people mentally map urban environments. His framework has been profoundly influential in urban design theory and practice, shaping how architects and planners think about legibility and wayfinding in cities.
