Luis Barragan

Luis Barragán was a Mexican architect and engineer widely regarded as one of the most important architects of the 20th century. Barragán’s work was characterized by a bold use of color, an emphasis on light and shadow, and a sensitivity to the surrounding landscape. His most famous works include Casa Estudio Luis Barragán, Casa Gilardi, and the Chapel of the Virgen de las Penas. Barragán’s work has been highly influential in architecture, and he has been recognized with numerous awards and honors, including the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1980.
