Siglo V a. C. (Etiqueta)

The 5th century BC, also known as the Classical period in Greece, was a period of substantial architectural progress. This era was dominated by the Doric and Ionic orders, known for their simplicity and elegance, respectively. Architects had a profound understanding of proportions and symmetry, applying these principles meticulously to design structures that exuded harmony and balance. Large-scale stone construction became the standard, with marble being a favored material for significant buildings. Furthermore, optical refinements, such as those seen in the Parthenon’s columns, were introduced. During this period, public buildings and temples, including the Parthenon and the Temple of Hephaestus, were constructed, serving both religious and civic purposes. Sculptural decoration became an integral part of architectural design, with high and low-relief sculptures often being used in friezes and pediments to depict mythological and historical narratives.
